Ruby Wood, Exaltatum London

 London based, Exaltatum was created in 2016 by Eglija Vaitkevice, an independent perfumer with qualifications from Grasse Institute of Perfumery and a background in aromatherapy and natural perfumery. Taking the French classic style of perfume making and combining it with modern elements, Eglija takes the inspiration from the city of London and its cultural heritage.

Exaltatum London combines natural ingredients with a small amount of synthetics in order to enhance the quality of certain compounds and to prolong the fragrance' life on skin.

With two releases this year and another one on the way, Exaltatum is slowly but surely making its way up to the top of the perfume market. 

Their first offering, Osmanthus Noble - an elegant classic-like fragrance dominated by a powdery suede with a cold iris undercoat and a warm tobacco cover, has soon won a big place into my heart and already created precious memories with its scented chords. 

The second release of the line, Ruby Wood is a caramelized rose with red fruits facets in an interesting combination with warm resins that play around a green, bright and slightly metallic veil of darkness. The rose is jammy, lively and sensually playful. Its sweetness is intensified with drops of caramel, tangy raspberry and spicy cardamom, and sustained by a noticeable obscurity created by the presence of a toffee-like labdanum which paired with patchouli and coffee provides a woody, earthy, resinous, intense tannin-like quality that cuts through the pungency of the rose resulting in a sweet and tick red aged wine-type of aroma. 

There are some smoky aspects in the aperture reminiscent of frankincense that join the aromatic warm bitterness of the myrrh and give the impression of smoked pine needles in the same vibe as Ecstasy by Tiziana Terenzi, but in its own un-coniferous and natural smelling way.

The dry down is almost entirely monopolized by the candied labdanum with rosy specks infused in the creamy woodiness of a slightly sour sandalwood.

Marketed as an oriental floral, I'd say that Ruby Rose plays a major role on the gourmand territory, more than it does it on the floral one, and offers a beautiful olfactory experience to anyone with fondness for sweet and rosy-woods.

La primera, Osmanthus Noble, es una elegante fragancia clásica dominada por una gamuza pulverulenta con una capa de iris frío y una cubierta de tabaco caliente, pronto ganó un gran lugar en mi corazón y ya ha creado preciosos recuerdos con sus acordes perfumados.

La segunda, Ruby Wood, es una rosa caramelizada con facetas de frutos rojos en una combinación interesante con resinas cálidas que juegan alrededor de un velo de oscuridad verde, brillante y ligeramente metálico. La rosa es melosa, alegre y sensualmente juguetona. Su dulzura se intensifica con gotas de caramelo, frambuesa y cardamomo picante, y se sostiene por una notable oscuridad creada por la presencia del ládano que, junto con el pachulí y el café, proporciona una fragancia intensamente terrosa, resinosa y tanina  que atraviesa la pungencia de la rosa y resulta en un aroma similar al vino rojo, dulce y denso, olor que comparte co Oud Bouquet de Lancôme.
Hay algunos aspectos ahumados en la apertura que recuerdan al humo de incienso y que se unen a la aromática cálida amargura de la mirra creando la ilusión de agujas de pino ahumadas, parecida a Ecstasy de Tiziana Terenzi, pero a su propia propia manera - no demasiado conífera y absolutamente natural.
El secado está casi completamente monopolizado por el ládano confitado con motas rosadas infundidas en la cremosa madera de un sándalo ligeramente agrio.

Clasificado como un floral oriental, diría que Ruby Rose desempeña un papel importante en el territorio de los gourmands, mucho más que lo hace en el floral, y ofrece una hermosa experiencia olfativa a cualquier persona con afición por las fragancias dulces y amaderadas rosados.
